Frequently asked questions
How is Book A Surveyor different from comparison sites?
Comparison sites send your details to several surveyors who then call you with quotes. We do the legwork instead: we find one local surveyor who can do the job, agree a fixed price, sort access with the estate agent and book it in. You get one call and a confirmed date.
How much does a house survey cost?
Our fixed prices start from £395 for a Level 2 Home Survey, £495 with a valuation, and £595 for a Level 3 Building Survey. The exact price is set by the property's value, and you see it in the form before you send your details.
Which survey do I need?
A Level 2 Home Survey suits most conventional homes in reasonable condition. For older, listed, extended or run-down properties, a Level 3 Building Survey is usually right. The form recommends one based on what you tell us.
Are your surveyors qualified?
Every surveyor we book is RICS regulated or a member of the Residential Property Surveyors Association (RPSA), and carries professional indemnity insurance.
When should I book a survey?
As soon as your offer is accepted. Booking early gives you time to act on anything the survey finds before you exchange contracts.
